Tony "Ham" Guerrero

& The New Generation

SOUND CLIP:  Featuring, "Alfredo Antonio Guerrero" with his original hit, "Nina Linda"

"Tony "Ham" Guerrero is a pacesetter", writes ethnomusicologist Dr. Manuel Peña. In the 70's Tony Guerrero recorded 20 albums in the "Onda" Tejana with the Tortilla Factory, including two worldwide top 5 hits on Billboard's "Top Latin LP's" chart. Tortilla Factory also hit it big with such songs as, "La Malagueña", "Somos Novios", "El Papalote", and "Cuando Vivas Conmigo". During this time, the Tortilla Factory hit the road traveling to cities like Miami, Chicago and Los Angeles. They played at well-know venues like the Greek theater in Berkeley California and at large events for groups like the farm workers of America. Now the legendary "Ham" once again records a 16 piece band, but with dynamic salsa syncopations and rhythms. Ham is proudly featuring his two beautiful and talented daughters, Cherith and Laura, as well as his handsome and equally talented son, Alfredo, on vocals.

The vivacious and dynamic Cherith has a Gloria Estefan type voice and the looks of Salma Hayek. Her riveting, coquettish choreography is as energetic as her singing. She has been groomed by her father, as well as by some of the best voice teachers in the musical capitol of the world and is truly an artist worthy of her father's musical genius. Not only does she compose and write the lyrics to many of her songs, but she plays the violin as well.

The beautiful and seductive Laura has a passionate voice that gives you goose bumps and pulls at your heart. She has studied music since she was four years old and has also played with string chamber groups. In school she was first chair violin for the San Angelo orchestra. She sang backup vocals in her father's band for about two years before going on to become a lead vocalist. Laura also plays piano and composes lyrics to many of her songs.

Alfredo António, a handsome 6 ft. 1 in. Ricky Martin look-alike, is also a semi professional soccer player. He is an accomplished and skilled all around athlete. As a four year old, practice time for Suzuki violin conflicted with soccer and he set music aside, though not out of his heart for a later time. He has always been his father's number one fan and eventually joined him in his career. He has been singing backup vocals for 5 years and has been lead vocalist for 3 years in his father's band. Alfredo, like Laura, also writes lyrics to his songs.

Now, under the direction of Tony Guerrero, his three children Cherith, Laura, and Alfredo, and a 12 piece band, including a 5 piece horn section, have formed "Tony "Ham" Guerrero & The New Generation".
